Il Pezzettino – What’s in a name 

Inspiration for the choice of the name ‘Il Pezzettino’ comes true a children’s book by Leo Lionni.

Pezzettino lives in a world in which everyone is big and does daring and wonderful things. But he is small, just a “little piece,” which is the meaning of pezzettino in Italian. “I must be a piece of somebody. I must belong to someone else,” he thinks. How Pezzettino learns that he belongs to no one but himself is the joyous and satisfying conclusion to this beautiful story.

The story is about the fragmentation of ‘the Self’. It’s about the rupture, but also about the recomposition and about the feeling of being able to find one’s place in the world. Pezzettino is in search… just like our children…

Our Story

Il Pezzettino is part of the legal entity Onlus Silvabella based in Pavia. Silvabella is a non lucrative association with social scope. All personnel of "Il Pezzettino" is employed by Silvabella.

 2016 :

In Milan the very first community for minors ‘Il Pezzettino’ is born. It’s the start of the realization of a valuable project by a team with both professional and scientific experience for more than 20 years in the field. The project gets the support of the social cooperative Onlus Silvabella, which is active since 1997, known for its multiple interventions to improve quality in life.

 2019-2020:

‘Il Pezzettino’ has grown into a community of 3 educational communities based in Varese, housing 30 minors in the age-group 0-18 years of age.
